Mogadishu,(Insidesomalia.org)- Ethiopian government will mediate negotiations between Somali government and opposition, said government spokesman.

Abdi Haji Goobdoon, Somali government spokesman speaking at a press conference in Mogadishu said that Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seuim Mesffin  during his visit in Baidoa , the official site of the Parliament had talks with Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf and Somali Prime Minister focused on an offer from the Ethiopian government to start mediate negotiations between Somali government and opposition groups.

The spokesman did not comment on how and when Ethiopian government will start its mediation efforts.

Ethiopian did not clearly show its willingness to media the Somali crisis in contrast with the opposition's preconditions of the withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from Somalia first, to negotiate with the government.

Leader of the main opposition group, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed ruled out talks with the Somali government unless Ethiopian troops withdrawn from Somalia.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Melles Zanawi said that Ethiopian troops might withdraw if African countries who pledged deploying troops to the African Union AMISOM peace keeping mission in Somalia are completed.

Ethiopian troops entered Somalia on December 2006 after an invitation from Somali government to support contain violence and       Ethiopian troops along with Somali government forces ousted Union of Islamic Courts from Mogadishu and most southern parts of Somalia after six months of control.
